Manifesting Your Side Hustle
Are you one of those people who thinks that manifesting is just too woo woo for you? How can you just attract things into your life by only thinking about them? It’s just a load of hocus pocus.
Or is it?
Those have been my thoughts …up until now. Let me tell you why I think there just might be something in this.
One of my favourite podcasts is Online Marketing Made Easy with Amy Porterfield. She is a very practical person, whose step-by-step approach is exactly what I like. But recently she deviated slightly from that and interviewed Gabby Bernstein, who to me appears to be the one of the major players in the world of manifesting. If you’re interested you can listen here.
After listening to the episode and also to an Audible Original by Gabby Bernstein, that I found on my app, I decided to do a bit of research to see how I could apply this to help me and you find time for a side hustle.
So what exactly is manifesting? I have found various definitions on the internet:
Making your dreams, goals and aspirations a reality by believing you can achieve them
Using intention to create an image of a goal you want to achieve and then cultivating discipline and actions that keep you oriented towards that goal
Changing your thoughts, which in turn will affect your actions and then become habits and behaviours. It’s about letting go of the limiting belief that we can’t achieve certain things
Some of the defintions are more vague than others, but many that I found focus on the power of changing your thoughts, which then leads to concrete actions. There’s nothing woo woo about that. It’s having a positive mindset which helps you to live intentionally and focus on your goals. When you have that focus and belief that you can succeed you are more likely to take action every day to achieve your goals.
What then are some practical steps that you could take to help manifest your side hustle? Here are my suggestions…
Create a Vision Board
Vision boards appear to have become very popular in recent years. One person that I’ve come across is Lisa Williams, Vision Board Queen, so if this interests you take a look at her website. I plan to explore this in more detail in a future blog post and consider what aspects of a side hustle one could include on a vision board, to help increase focus and motivation and ultimately make more time for a side hustle.
Complete Small Daily Actions
With your vision board as your guide the next step to manifesting your side hustle goals is to carry out small tasks every day, which will move you towards realising the vision of your future side hustle that you have created on your vision board.
Get Out of Your Comfort Zone
As you decide on your small daily tasks remember to stop playing things safe all the time. Try new things. If you don’t know how to do it, Google it. There is so much help and free information out there nowadays there is no excuse for not moving forward in your side hustle.
Journal
Develop a daily journalling practice where you reflect on your goals and assess the progress that you are making towards your vision. Ask yourself, what have you done today to move your side hustle forward?
Develop Positive Thoughts
Manifesting is partly about changing your mindset and your thinking about your abilities. When you’re finding it tough you need some positive thoughts to help you through. Here are some ideas, but take some time to come up with a few of your own:
I’m finding this challenging and that’s okay
I am confident that I can work this out
I am a capable and resourceful woman
I will keep trying until I find the solution
I can handle whatever comes my way
There’s an opportunity for learning in every mistake and failure
I’m doing my best and that is good enough
I’m interested in what you think about manifesting now. To me it just seems to be a way of focusing on your objectives. When your side hustle goals are front and centre of your mind you’re more likely to notice opportunities. It’s like if you’re thinking about buying a certain model of car all of a sudden you see it everywhere. The number of cars hasn’t increased. You’re just noticing them now. Manifesting seems to be the same. It’s intentional living, rather than just stumbling forward and hoping something good happens. You have a clear end point in mind and when you have focus you don’t waste time on what’s not important.
So if you’re really struggling to have focus in your side hustle, meaning you’re wasting time dithering and getting little done, why not try implementing some of these practices today. They might just help give you the focus you need to find time for your side hustle.
